Consumer Description

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Transit Connect. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds, the trunk unintendedly unlatched. The contact placed a strap extending from the trunk latch to the seat to keep trunk closed while driving. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V502000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES) for the door, but not for the trunk latch. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.
