NHTSA Complaint #11625926 — 2021 FORD BRONCO SPORT

The contact owns a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V267000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but was unable to confirm when the parts would become available. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked and attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that there was smoke coming from the engine compartment. The Fire Department was called, and the engine temperature was checked inside and outside the vehicle and it was determined that the engine had overheated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed and it was determined that the water pump was leaking, the alternator had overheated, and the battery had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 32,468.
