NHTSA Complaint #11623406 — 2014 FORD EDGE

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while her husband was starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal clanking sound coming from the vehicle. The contact turned off the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle had been driven the day prior without any issues. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was determined that the engine was blown. The contact was informed that the internal water pump had failed, and there was water inside the engine. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
