NHTSA Complaint #11602415 — 2014 FORD EDGE

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 80 MPH, the vehicle stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the residence. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with internal water pump failure. The mechanic determined that the water pump and the head gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.
