NHTSA Complaint #11617297 — 2018 FORD EDGE

The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at unknown speed, there was smoke coming from the exhaust pipe and the vehicle shuddered. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable and was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that there was a coolant intrusion into the cylinder. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 94,600.
