NHTSA Complaint #11616266 — 2016 FORD FOCUS

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle shuddered and jerked abnormally. Additionally, the contact stated that the transmission independently downshifted and the RPM increased; however, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the failure had occurred intermittently; however, recently the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was scheduled for diagnostic testing at the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not assist. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under recall or warranty. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
