Consumer Description

About six weeks ago the "check 4WD" light started coming on intermittently and would then go off. I had the car checked before a road trip (that we didn't take for safety reasons) and my shop found a 2020 recall (W48/NHTSA 20E-037) for "all Chrysler models." I brought the car to Jeep of Chicago on [XXX] and the diagnostic found metal particles in the PTU fluid. I then opened a case ([XXX]) with Chrysler, which I was told on [XXX] they cancelled without contacting me or Jeep of Chicago because my VIN wasn't associated with any recalls. I found that Chrysler recalled 2016/2017 Jeep Cherokees for this issue and I was told by service people at Jeep of Chicago and Fields Jeep they have had a number of Jeeps come in for this issue. I was quoted $2818.55 to fix this and want Chrysler to pay for this. I am hoping NHTSA can help with this as it is a known safety issue.
