The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a cracked particulate filter. The contact was advised that the particulate filter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the part to complete the repair was on backorder. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of coolant. The contact stated that the coolant level was over one gallon low within a two-week period. The vehicle was inspected for leaks, and it was confirmed that there were no leaks found. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired for the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
