Consumer Description

On [XXX] around 12:00 PM, while traveling northbound in the HOV lane at 70 MPH on [XXX] near [XXX] , with two small children in the passenger row and two adults in the front, the following error suddenly appeared on the dashboard: "Stop Safely -- Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon." Power to the engine stopped as a result and the car coasted. A "red turtle" warning and a "Check Engine" error also displayed. No other errors, unfamiliar sounds, or mechanical noises preceded these errors, nor had there been any other recent problems with the car. We pulled over to the shoulder immediately and turned the car off for approximately 5 minutes to see whether the errors would persist. With the "Stop Safely" error no longer on the dashboard, we turned the car on again and drove it to the dealership. On that drive, the previous errors appeared a second time. The dealership, Carl Burger Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM World (La Mesa CA), has confirmed that the transmission needs to be replaced and that it is unsafe to drive the vehicle until the transmission is replaced. On August 30, 2024, the dealership said that they are waiting for Stellantis to release the transmission and "that won't happen any time soon." As of today, September 2, 2024, Carl Burger has failed to provide a timeline for the replacement and have informed us that we must deal with Stellantis in order to get the case escalated and the car repaired. They have also refused to offer us a replacement/loaner vehicle while ours is in the shop. Mileage: 51,000 Stellantis Case Number [XXX] Dealership: https://www.carlburger.com/ INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
