NHTSA Complaint #11610208 — 2014 FORD F-150

The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the power steering assist failed to operate as needed. Due to the failure, excessive force was needed to steer the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where a diagnostic test confirmed that the power steering assist was inoperable. The vehicle warranty provider offered to cover the cost of the repair; however, the Ford dealer stated that only authorized Ford parts could be used for the repair; which the warranty did not cover. The vehicle was then taken to two independent mechanics who informed the contact that the vehicle could only be serviced at a Ford dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000.
