The contact owns a 2016 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the overheating warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure occurred while driving over a bridge. The contact stated that the failure was persistent while driving for four hours, returning home from a trip. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with transmission clutch failure. The contact was informed that the transmission clutch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not determined. The contact stated that the transmission had been replaced three times. The contact stated that the current transmission was installed two years ago. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
