NHTSA Complaint #11605953 — 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI

The contact owns a 2016 Volkswagen GTI. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V110000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the contact became aware of fuel leaking from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with a fuel leak coming from the fuel tank suction pump. The contact was informed that the fuel tank suction pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure.
