NHTSA Complaint #11595550 — 2014 AUDI Q7

The contact owns a 2014 Audi Q7. The contact stated that there was an occasional fuel odor from the exterior of the vehicle and the driver’s side rear seat. The contact was advised by the manufacturer, that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V298000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact who is an independent mechanic discovered he could access the fuel tank through the driver’s side rear seat. In addition, the contact noticed the fuel tank had been temporarily repaired with a fuel pump flange to prevent the fuel tank from being cracked over time. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 153,000.
