NHTSA Complaint #11593617 — 2013 FORD EDGE

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving and approaching a stop light, the brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle was slow to respond. The contact applied additional pressure to the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that there was a slice in the vacuum pump and that the brake booster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the brake booster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure was related to TSB: 13N02. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.
