NHTSA Complaint #11583468 — 2023 BMW X7

The contact owns a 20223 BMW X7. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V104000 (Electronic Stability Control - ESC, Service Brakes) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 MPH, the vehicle independently activated the brakes. The contact stated that a red warning light with "SOS" was illuminated. The contact was able to pull over and turned off and restarted the vehicle and the braking functionality returned. The contact drove the vehicle to a local dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the ABS and ESC modules needed to be reset. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 5,600. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
