Consumer Description

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the parking brake error message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that there was a crack on the vehicle near the lift gate and water had entered the spare tire compartment. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the wiring harness and module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V338000 (Electrical System, Structure). The failure mileage was approximately 128,000.
