NHTSA Complaint #11581701 — 2013 FORD FOCUS

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle was losing motive power. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal and the vehicle failed to respond and stopped with the engine running. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to respond when shifted into drive(D). The contact had the vehicle towed to a local dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the Transmission Control Module and transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to the manufacturer's Customer Satisfaction Program Number: 14M02 TCM Extended Warranty (Power Train). The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 154,000.
