NHTSA Complaint #11581351 — 2014 HYUNDAI TUCSON

The connecting rod bearing failed. The dealer has the car and has not provided me with detailed documentation as I have requested. I was traveling ~70 MPH on [XXX] in Maryland when the engine threw a rod. I could control the braking and steering, but had no ability to accelerate. I was able to magically go across 3 lanes of traffic and exit the highway to a safe resting place. I had the car towed to Porter Hyundai in Newark, DE. They inspected the engine and sent documentation to Hyundai. Prior to the event, no warning lamps were on. The "check engine" light came on as the incident was occurring.
