Incident date/time: [XXX] MDT*Year, make, model: 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Upland 4X4 3.2L V6 F/I Gas 4D SUV*Odometer when incident occurred: 80,358*Injuries: No*Failed or malfunctioned component or system: Engine*Warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to incident: No*Recent maintenance history, date and location: Routine maintenance, inspections, oil, lube*Last oil change, location and mileage: DEC 2023, Hot Springs, SD, odometer 78,653*To and from travel details: Traveling home to Hot Springs, SD from Henderson, NV after grandmother passing*Incident location: [XXX] Wamsutter, WY*Incident details, include velocity, vehicle load/trailering/towing, road conditions:*[XXX], fair weather, snow, plows in service that day on interstate, velocity 70MPH, left lane behind tractor trailer passing a slower tractor trailer in the right lane when incident occurred, observed and heard roadway obstruction/debris struck one mile prior to failure, unknown obstruction/debris type, no malfunction indicator lights, no information on dash heads-up display, no indication of an issue present or imminent; normal load, not pulling/trailering, slight (<1% grade) incline, road straight; Jeep performing normally prior to incident; without warning, a "pop" was heard in the cabin, smoke billowed from under the hood and rear of vehicle and immediate powertrain failure; malfunction indicator light indicates engine issue, heads-up display flashes performance, oil pressure, stability and traction control failure warnings, engine power ceased, operator safely maneuvers from left lane to shoulder; visual inspection reveals engine oil loss, engine block rod part observable at the bottom of engine compartment; incident documented, photographed, reported to insurance and warranty*Problem confirmed by dealer shop, inspected by insurance and warranty companies - blown motor, undetermined*Past PCV issues possible cause.
