NHTSA Complaint #11564553 — 2017 FORD F-150

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated there was oil leaking from the vehicle. The contact noticed that there was oil underneath the front end of the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure persisted after the repair was completed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the oil pan failed due to the material being plastic and being mounted to an aluminum frame while overheating, causing the oil pan to expand and slightly detach. The oil pan had been replaced. The manufacturer had been made aware of the failure. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The approximate failure mileage was 16,000.
