NHTSA Complaint #11560896 — 2017 HONDA PILOT

The contact owns a 2017 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, he observed a ticking sound coming from the engine compartment and the vehicle started to lose motive power. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced due to the rod bearing fracturing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and complaint was filled. The contact believed that failure was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000.
