NHTSA Complaint #11631252 — 2017 HONDA PILOT

The contact owns a 2017 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that after coming to a complete stop, the Auto START/STOP feature was activated, but the engine failed to restart after releasing the brake pedal. Additionally, the transmission intermittently shifted to neutral(N) or park(P) while at a complete stop. The Collision Mitigation Braking System warning light was illuminated. The contact depressed the brake pedal and shifted the transmission to drive(D), allowing the vehicle to respond. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the dealer; however, the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: PE22005 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
