Consumer Description

The contact owns a 2017 Kia Soul. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that smoke entered the cabin of the vehicle. The contact stated she was able to safely drive the vehicle to the shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 80,806.
