NHTSA Complaint #11548432 — 2023 HONDA HR-V

The contact owns a 2023 Honda HR-V. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, she heard an abnormal gunshot-like sound and immediately pulled over to the side of the road. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the rear windshield had imploded. The contact stated that she contacted the police department, and a police officer arrived and inspected the vehicle. The police officer determined that there was no external cause to the failure. The contact covered the rear windshield with plastic and duct tape, and then drove to her destination. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that it was known failure. The dealer informed the contact that the rear windshield needed to be replaced. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000. The VIN was unavailable.
