NHTSA Complaint #11545555 — 2020 FORD ESCAPE

The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated there was a loud cracking sound while opening and closing the front driver's side door. The contact stated that the door was difficult to close. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who determined that the safety latch and door welds had fractured at the check arm attachment point and that the door needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 40,000.
