Consumer Description
On or about May 11th I received a notice of a recall on my vehicle. This recall notified me that my car could catch fire due to a faulty liftgate. The notice stated that there is no remedy available at this time so they recommended that I do not park near other vehicles or near any buildings. With safety being a concern, I reached out to the dealership that I purchased the vehicle from (Carmax) to see if they could help me in getting a rental vehicle or a loaner vehicle, so that I could drive safely without any concerns until the recall is fixed. They refused to help me, stating that they did not manufacturer the vehicle so I had to reach out to the manufacturer for any assistance. I then reached out to Jeep, who is the manufacturer, and also tried to request any assistance in this matter. I first went to the dealership directly and asked if there was anything they could do to assist me and they denied me stating that jeep does not provide any rental vehicle assistance in regards to recalls. When I advise them that this is a safety concern, they said I should reach out to customer service. I then called customer service with the number that they provided, and they also refused to help me. They stated that they could not provide any rental vehicle assistance or loaner vehicle, while I am waiting for the recall to be resolved. They stated they have no policy that requires them to do so. I advised them that this is a safety concern as my vehicle could catch fire based on the parameters of the recall and they said it did not matter. I asked to speak to any supervisor or management and they refused to connect me stating that the policy is the policy and the manager will tell me the same thing. I am requesting assistance in this matter, since it has been months without any remedy for the recall, and it is unsafe for my vehicle to be driven.
