NHTSA Complaint #11536368 — 2020 FORD ESCAPE

The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated that when he opened the front driver’s side door, he heard a cracking sound. Upon inspecting the door, he noticed that the hinge had loosened and that the spot welds had cracked. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was advised by the technician to take the vehicle to an auto repair shop. The contact was informed that the front driver's side door might need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall and advised to call the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000.
