NHTSA Complaint #11528261 — 2016 FORD EDGE

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the vehicle started overheating. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to the residence. The contact checked the coolant level and noticed that the coolant level was low. The contact added coolant, but the failure continued, with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced all spark plugs, but the failure reoccurred. The independent mechanic referred the contact to the local dealer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic test. The mechanic stated that coolant was leaking into the engine and that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 61,000.
