NHTSA Complaint #11520450 — 2016 FORD EDGE

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact was able to drive to the residence. However, the contact stated that the following day, the engine misfired while starting the vehicle. Additionally, the contact noticed that the coolant level was low. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that there was coolant intrusion into the engine block, and the engine needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that it was a known failure and a manufacturer defect. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist due to the mileage on the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 128,546.
