NHTSA Complaint #11508408 — 2016 HYUNDAI SONATA HYBRID

The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at a slow speed out of the driveway, she heard a knocking sound coming from under the hood. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that after the vehicle was retrieved from the dealer, the check engine warning light illuminated after 300 miles. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 163,000.
