NHTSA Complaint #11505788 — 2019 FORD ECOSPORT

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ecosport. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle hesitated and stalled. The loss of engine oil pressure light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the oil belt tensioner failed, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000. The contact stated that the ecoboost had been replaced several times and the motor had been looked at multiple times also. Never was he told that the oil pump was the issue all along.
