NHTSA Complaint #11485636 — 2017 KIA SOUL

The contact owns a 2017 Kia Soul. The contact stated while driving approximately 50-60 MPH, the vehicle emitted an abnormal sound and stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to veer to the side of the roadway. The vehicle failed to restart after several attempts. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then towed to the residence. The local dealer and an unknown dealer were notified of the failure but had not called the contact back. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was out of warranty. There was no additional assistance provided. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
