NHTSA Complaint #11484618 — 2016 FORD FOCUS

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speed, the vehicle shut off inadvertently. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and continued driving. However, the failure reoccurred on three other occasions. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V735000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for recall repair. However, the dealer informed the contact that they could not complete the recall repair unless she paid a repair fee for unrelated repairs. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 71,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
