NHTSA Complaint #11483984 — 2015 FORD EXPEDITION

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving at approximately 30 MPH, the blower motor failed, causing the defroster to become inoperable. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the blower motor failed due to the wiring harness and resister overheating. The contact stated that the fuse did not blow which allowed the harness to melt, causing arcing and increased the potential of a fire. The contact stated that the blower motor was drawing too many AMPs causing the failure. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the blower motor needed to be replaced as stated in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V648000 (Visibility, Electrical System). The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact stated that replacing the blower would not remedy the problem. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000.
