NHTSA Complaint #11483636 — 2016 HYUNDAI SONATA

The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that on multiple occasions while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. Additionally, the contact stated that he noticed white smoke coming from the exhaust. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The mechanic stated that the vehicle experienced excessive oil consumption. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the failure was due to the lack of proper maintenance. The failure mileage was approximately 147,000.
