The contact's son owns a 2007 BMW 328i. The contact's son received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V119000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated while her son was driving approximately 15 MPH, the vehicle began to overheat and he saw smoke coming out from underneath the hood the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact' son pulled into a parking lot where he parked the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired.
