The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated while reversing out of her driveway at approximately 2 MPH, there was a loud grinding noise underneath the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stopped the vehicle and placed the vehicle into "drive" and returned the vehicle onto her driveway. The contact turned off the vehicle. The vehicle had not been taken to a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired; however, the contact's husband observed damage to the transfer case. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V393000 (Power Train). The failure mileage was approximately 98,000. The consumer stated they purchased a transfer case and made the necessary repairs.
