Consumer Description
The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Durango. The contact stated the vehicle would fail to start. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V813000 (Electrical System) however, the dealer informed the contact that parts for the recall repair were not yet available. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently stalled. The contact stated that as he attempted to turn the steering wheel, the steering wheel was firm. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated he forcefully steered the steering wheel and veered to the side of the road. The contact stated he was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the fuel relay switch was bypassed as temporary remedy for the recall as per the manufacturer's instructions; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who informed the contact that they could no longer assist as the parts for the recall repair were not available. The dealer also informed the contact that the manufacturer only provided one part per month for the recall repair. The contact stated that he contacted several unknown dealers who advised as the first dealer. The contact also stated the camera that worked in conjunction with the cruise control had malfunctioned. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that they could not duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact that they could not assist. The manufacturer referred the contact to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000. (RECALL RELATED INCIDENT) - TS
