Consumer Description

SIDE DETECTION SYSTEM FAILURE. MODULE ABSORBING MOISTURE. DETECTION LIGHT ON SIDE MIRROR STAYS ON, EVEN WHEN CAR IS OFF. INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FLASHES VARIOUS WARNINGS. GM IS AWARE THAT IT IS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE PART BUT LIMITS COVERAGE TO CERTAIN MILEAGE. SEEMS LIKE A PART THAT COULD CAUSE A FIRE NEAR THE GAS TANK WOULD BE A BIG ENOUGH SAFETY HAZARD TO WARRANT A FULL RECALL. ISSUE FIRST HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING THROUGH TOWN. GAVE WARNINGS ON THE SIDE DETECTION, THEN LIGHT STAYED ON IN THE SIDE VIEW MIRROR.
