Consumer Description
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW ON MAY 13, 2017. THE CONTACT WAS NOT MADE AWARE THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V301000 (POWER TRAIN) UNTIL THE MONDAY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE CONTACT INQUIRED AS TO WHY THE NORTHWEST CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE DEALER SOLD HIM A BRAND NEW VEHICLE WITH AN OPEN RECALL, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL WAS A PRE-NOTICE AND THEY WOULD RECEIVE PARTS FOR A RECALL AT A LATER DATE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE NON-COMPLIANCE AND STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING REGARDING THE DEALER. THE CONTACT REFERENCED MOTOR VEHICLE ACT 49 U.S CODE 30120, WHICH STATED THAT THE DEALER HAD TO REMEDY THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO DELIVERY THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. UPDATED 08/08/17*LJ *CN
