Consumer Description
DAS (DIRECT ADAPTIVE STEERING) STEER BY WIRE SYSTEM LOSES CALIBRATION WHICH CAUSES STEERING LOSS. DEALERS RE-CALIBRATE SYSTEM BUT CALIBRATION LOSS CONTINUES. FAULTS AND ERRORS DON'T REGISTER AND BACKUP STEERING SYSTEM DOES NOT ENGAGE AS THE FAULT IN THE SYSTEM IS NOT TRIGGERED BUT MAKES THE CAR UNDRIVEABLE AND CREATES A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WHEN CALIBRATION CAUSES THE CAR TO STEER (TURN) WITHOUT TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS HAPPENS FROM START AND IN MOTION, BOTH CITY AND HIGHWAY. IN MY EXPERIENCE ALWAYS DURING WARM WEATHER AND WHEN DRIVING STRAIGHT.
