Consumer Description

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE FRONT FUEL TANK STRAP LOOSENED CAUSING THE FUEL TANK TO PARTIALLY DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WHERE THE FUEL TANK WAS TEMPORARILY RECONNECTED TO THE VEHICLE WITH A NYLON STRAP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK FRAME RAIL WAS COMPLETELY CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,200. UPDATED 09/02/15*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED AS OF 8/3/15 CHRYSLER OFFERED TO RE-PURCHASE VEHICLE AT MSRP. THE FRAME RAIL RUSTED WHERE THE FRONT FUEL TANK STRAP ATTACHES TO THE FRAME CAUSING THE TANK TO DISLODGE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE.
