Consumer Description

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD WINDSTAR SE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN WHEN A LOUD POPPING NOISE SOUNDED OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED IN OPERATION; AND UPON REACHING THE DESTINATION IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT "A FRAME" COMPLETELY FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE "A FRAME" WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS A RECALL RELATED TO THE SAME FAILURE WITH THE REAR SUSPENSION UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V385000 (SUSPENSION:REAR:AXLE:NON-POWERED AXLE ASSEMBLY). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
