I PARKED THE MOTORCYCLE. 20 MINUTES LATER I CAN BACK TO LEAVE. TRIED TO START MOTORCYCLE, AND IT WOULD NOT START. NOTICED A GAS SMELL AND RELIZED FUEL WAS RUNNING DOWN FROM THE CARBURETOR AREA. I FINALLY GOT THE MOTORCYCLE TO START, BUT BEGAN NOTICING THIS AT ALL OF THE STOPS ALONG OUR MOTORCYCLE RIDE. THE BIKE IS PARKED AND ISSUE NEEDS REPAIRED, AS IT IS AN EXTREME FIRE HAZZARD FOR FUEL TO BE LEAKING FROM THE CARBURETOR ONTO THE HOT EXHAUST AND ENGINE. IT APPEARS THIS CONDITION ONLY HAPPENS AFTER MACHINE IS TURNED OFF AND ATTEMPTING TO BE RESTARTED. I HAVE OWNED THIS BIKE FOR OVER A YEAR AND HAVE HAD ZERO PROBLEMS UNTIL NOW, ONCE IT WAS STARTED, THERE WERE NO ISSUES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 YAMAHA ROAD STAR MOTORCYCLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AS HE STARTED THE VEHICLE, HE NOTICED FUEL LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE BLOCK. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER THE ENGINE WOULD BECOME HOT IN COMBINATION WITH HOT WEATHER TEMPERATURES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A REMEDY FOR THE DEFECT. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 YAMAHA ROAD STAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EVERY TIME HE TAKES A TRIP THE REAR SHOCKS FAIL ON THE VEHICLE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS IT MAKES THE REAR END BOUNCE AND THE MOTORCYCLE IS HARD TO CONTROL. THE CONTACT STATED EVERY 200 MILES OR SO THE REAR SHOCKS HAVE TO BE ADJUSTED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WERE UNAWARE OF THIS BEING A PROBLEM. THE CONTACT PUT AN AFTER MARKET SHOCK ON THE MOTORCYCLE AND FAILURE HAD NOT OCCURRED SINCE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20000. UPDATED 12/29/10 *BF UPDATED 01/04/11
