A WINTER STORM HIT MY AREA AND I NEEDED TO ENGAGE MY FOUR WHEEL DRIVE, THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE WOULDN'T ENGAGE. THE INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE DASH WOULD ONLY FLASH. MY TRUCK ONLY WENT A SHORT DISTANCE BEFORE GETTING STUCK ON THE ROAD LEAVING ME STRANDED.
AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON. HORN NOT WORKING. FUSES GOOD- WIRE HARNESS RECALL COMPLETED 2012 NOV. PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO THE SAME COMPONENTS. NOW OVER 240K MILES ON THE VEHICLE.
THE SHIFTER BROKE AFTER PULLING INTO PARK AND THE INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE GEAR BOX FAILED. REPAIRED SHIFT CABLE 8/6/2020.
TOYOTA DENIED ME HELP WITH THINGS THAT SHOULD BE A RECALLS! THEY ARE GREEDY AND OUT RIGHT LYING SOCIOPATHIC THIEVES! THE TOP REAR BRAKE LIGHT ON MY TACOMA 07 TRUCK LETS RAIN WATER IN. THIS IS GOIN TO CAUSE MOLD AND HAS ALREADY BLOWN OUT THE COMPASS ON THE CEILING AS THE WIRING FOR THIS IS IN THE CEILING! AND SEATS GETTIN WET OVER AND OVER FROM RAIN WATER GETTIN IN THE TOP REAR LIGHT. THEY ALSO JUST DENIED ME ANY HELP REFUNDING ME FOR UPDATED HEADLIGHT LENS THAT HAD TO COME OUT WITH WHICH KEPT BURNING SOCKETS, BLOWING BULBS AND BURNING THE LENS! THERE TSB WHICH SHOULD BE A RECALL IS T-SB-0129-11. THIS TSB THING IS A SCAM SO THEY DONT HAVE TO ACCOUNT FOR THEIR POOR QUALITY MISTAKES. I PAID 24,000 FOR THIS TRUCK AND TOYOTA WONT HELP ME AT ALL WITH THEIR DEFECTIVE PRODUCT! THEY ARE PURE...
ALL FOUR DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS HAVE FAILED ONE AT A TIME, AND REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY (AT THE TIME). SINCE THEN, TWO OF THEM ( BOTH ON THE DRIVERS SIDE) HAVE FAILED AGAIN AFTER THE 1 YEAR REPLACEMENT PART WARRANTY RAN OUT. THIS POSSES A SAFETY HAZZARD AND A SECURITY RISK TO MYSELF AND ANYBODY ELSE OPERATING THIS VEHICLE. UPON RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET, IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM, AND THEREFORE SHOULD BE UNDER A SAFETY RECALL.
AFTER DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR A FEW MINUTES AT ~70 MPH, THE ABS LIGHT RUN RED ON. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED ON THE COMPUTER THOUGHT THE CAR WAS IN A BAD SITUATION AND LOCKED THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS CAUSED THE BRAKES TO NOT FUNCTION AND MADE THE CAR ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP. WHENEVER THE CAR WAS ABLE TO BE SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 19 MPH, THE LIGHT WOULD TURN OFF AND THE BRAKES WOULD START TO FUNCTION NORMALLY. THIS HAPPENED ONCE A WEEK FOR 3 WEEKS IN 2015 AND AGAIN IN FEBRUARY OF 2016. IT HAPPENED AGAIN IN APRIL 2016. THIS PROBLEM DID NOT HAPPEN AT LOW SPEED AND IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN TWICE IN THE SAME DAY, EVEN DURING THE SAME CONDITIONS. I WENT TO WOLFCHASE TOYOTA TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY DECIDED NOT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I WENT TO PRINCIPAL TOYOTA AND THEY SAID THEY...
THE VEHICLE'S ENTIRE ELECTRICAL WIRE HARNESS HAD TO BE REPLACED. DIAGNOSTIC CODE POINTED TO A CORROSION PROBLEM WITH THE HARNESS HOOK-UP POINT WITH THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. TOYOTA PUT OUT A MECHANIC'S BULLETIN FOR IT'S MECHANICS WHEN THIS CODE CAME UP TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL WIRE HARNESS PROBABLE CAUSE CORROSION. THE PROBLEM SHOWED UP AFTER STARTING THE TRUCK, DRIVER PUSHED THE BRAKE, TO MOVE TRANSMISSION FROM PARK TO REVERSE. THE RIGHT TURN SIGNAL INDICATOR LIGHT LIT UP WHILE BRAKE WAS DEPRESSED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. RIGHT SIGNAL CAME ON EVERY TIME THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED, ALL THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT.
WHILE DRIVING FUSE PANEL UNDER DASH CAUGHT FIRE AFTER USING HORN EXCESSIVELY. FIRE WAS PUT OUT IMMEDIATELY BUT DAMAGE RESULTED IN A MELTED FUSE PANEL AND WIRING HARNESS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SEAT HAD A SENSOR THAT BECAME INOPERABLE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
ONE BY ONE, ALL FOUR ELECTRONIC DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS THAT LOCK AND UNLOCK THE VEHICLES DOORS STOPPED FUNCTIONING. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP REPLACED THEM, ONE AT A TIME UNTIL ALL FOUR WERE WORKING AGAIN. THIS WAS COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT I HAD PURCHASED WITH THE VEHICLE. NOW, AT 84,000 MILES, TWO OF THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS HAVE FAILED AGAIN ! THIS TIME, THE DEALER TOLD ME BECAUSE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED I WAS OUT OF LUCK AND WOULD HAVE TO PAY ROUGHLY $500.00 PER DOOR TO HAVE IT FIXED! MY RESPONSE WAS " THIS IS A PRE-EXISTING CONDITION, SO THEY SHOULD BE REPLACED BY TOYOTA". THE SERVICE REP TOLD ME THAT THE PARTS WERE ONLY WARRANTEED FOR ONE YEAR. THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTED TOYOTA, AND SUBMITTED ALL OF THE PAPERWORK FROM MY PREVIOUS PROBLEMS. TOYOTA RESPONDED WITH A "TOO BAD, WE'RE NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING TO HELP YOU". SO,...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT MALFUNCTIONED DUE TO A FAULTY FAN SWITCH AND CONNECTOR THAT BURNED THE FAN WIRE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE RESISTOR TO THE FAN UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT DID NOT REPLACE THE RESISTOR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
2007 TOYOTA TACOMA SUA (SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION) MY INCIDENT STARTED FROM A NEAR STANDSTILL WITH MY RIGHT FOOT FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE. AS A FORMALLY TRAINED OBSERVER AND TROUBLESHOOTER OF AIRCRAFT ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS, IT IS MY OPINION THAT THIS VEHICLE DELIVERED UNINITIATED STIMULUS TO THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM. I AM 100% POSITIVE ABOUT THIS FINDING AS I PERSONALLY EXPERIENCED THIS FAILURE WITH A CLEAR MIND AND EXCELLENT VANTAGE POINT. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO STOP THIS VEHICLE AFTER VIOLENT AND AGGRESSIVE BRAKING WAS APPLIED WHILE CONTACTING A CEMENT PICNIC TABLE. THIS FINALLY OCCURRED JUST SHORT OF A 267 FOOT CLIFF/HILL POINTING INTO A RESERVOIR. THIS IS MY SECOND ENTRY INTO THE NHTSA DATABASE CONCERNING THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION OF A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. I HAVE NOW BEEN THROUGH THE ENTIRE TOYOTA PROCESS AND HAVE HAD ALL RECALLS AND INVESTIGATIONS PERFORMED. DAMAGE FROM THE ACCIDENT DUE TO SUA HAS BEEN REPAIRED....
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 15 MPH AND APPLIED THE BRAKES WHEN HE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A WALL. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS A ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION THAT OCCURRED BEFORE THE CRASH. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SPIRAL CABLE ASSEMBLY BUT THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE REPAIRS, THE VEHICLE STILL EXPERIENCED MAJOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. WHILE ON A CAMPING TRIP MY 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA SUFFERED A SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION EVENT. WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES AND COMING TO A STOP THE TACOMA SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND FLEW OVER TWO GOOD SIZE BOULDERS A CAST IRON FIRE PIT AND CAME TO A REST AFTER HITTING A SOLID CONCRETE PICNIC TABLE. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH COHO CAMPGROUND HOSTS ACTING AS TO GO ON FILE WITH THE WASHINGTON STATE FORESTRY DEPARTMENT. THIS EVEN OCCURRED AT THE WYNOOCHEE DAM AND RESERVOIR LOCATED IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST OF WASHINGTON STATE. THE TRUCK WAS REMANDED TO TOYOTA OF OLYMPIA WASHINGTON AND THE INSURANCE CARRIER WAS NOTIFIED. THE TRUCK WAS DUE FOR THE WELL DOCUMENTED TOYOTA FLOOR MAT, GAS PEDAL AND BRAKING ACCELERATION OVERRIDE MODIFICATION. NOW LISTEN CAREFULLY HERE...THE FLOOR MATS WERE HEAVY DUTY RUBBER NON-TOYOTA BRAND MATS. THEY WERE NOT IMPEDING THE GAS PEDAL IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. THE TRUCK...
2007 TACOMA TRUCK. UPON STARTING TRUCK IT WENT INTO A HI-SPEED IDLE PEGGING THE TACH. TURNED OFF IGNITION AND RESTARTED AFTER ABOUT 5 SECONDS. SAME RESULT. WAITED ABOUT 10 SECONDS NORMAL OPERATION ON THIRD START. IT SOUNDED LIKE A JET HAD LANDED IN MY DRIVE WAY. CALLED DEALER. STATED THAT UNLESS CHECK ENGINE WAS ON THERE IS NO TROUBLE CODE TO BE DISPLAYED. AS OF THIS DATE (8-30-10) I WILL NOT LET MY WIFE OR ANYONE ELSE DRIVE THIS AUTO. *TR

THEN THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN WHEN IN USE. BOTH HAVE CONTINUED TO HAPPEN SINCE THEN, ACCEPT NOW THE TRUCK IS NOT GETTING VERY GOOD GAS MILEAGE, THE GAUGES STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS NOW ON. THE TRUCK IS AT THE DEALERSHIP AS I TYPE THIS BEING LOOKED INTO. THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM FROM WHAT I CAN SEE WHEN I DRIVE IT. SOMETHING ELECTRICAL FOR SURE, AND POSSIBLY ELSEWHERE INTERNALLY.
