THE CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH A LOW-PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WHICH MAY STOP OPERATING WHICH COULD RESULT IN THE ENGINE RUNNING ROUGH AND THE VEHICLE TO STALL, THEREBY INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH DURING DRIVING. TOYOTA HAS IDENTIFIED THIS PROBLEM AS EARLY AS JANUARY 2020 AND NOTIFIED ME IN WRITING IN OCTOBER 2020, BUT AS OF TODAY (FEB 21, 2021), IT HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THE STALLING PROBLEM, BUT I AM WORRIED THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN ANYTIME WHILE I AM DRIVING ESPECIALLY AT HIGH SPEED IN THE FREEWAY. I AM WRITING TO COMPLAIN BECAUSE WHEN I CONTACTED TOYOTA ON FEB 20, 2021, IT HAS NOT PROVIDED A REMEDY OR A FIX TO THE PROBLEM, AND IT HAS BEEN A YEAR SINCE IT FIRST IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM.
1. ON ENTERING FREEWAY, CAR DID NOT RESPOND TO ACCELERATOR, & SEEMED TO LOSE POWER MOMENTARILY. THEN SEEMED TO ENGAGE, ACCELERATING. 2. ON FREEWAY, GAS PEDAL BECAME SPONGY, CAR COASTED FOR A COUPLE HUNDRED FEET, THEN PEDAL ENGAGED, CAR ACCELERATED. OCCURRED THREE, 3, TIMES, DIFFERENT TRIPS. 3. ON TURNING RIGHT, ON CITY STREET, ENGINE STARTED TO RUN ROUGH AS THO IT WOULD STALL. WORKED ITSELF OUT AND CONTINUED W/O FURTHER TROUBLE. 4. ON TWO OCCASIONS, ENGINE RAN ROUGHLY WHEN TURNING IT ON IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE. WEATHER WAS WARM, NOT A FACTOR. RAN SMOOTHLY AFTER A BLOCK. GAS PEDAL AGAIN FELT SPONGY WHILE CAR RAN ROUGH. DEALER HAS STATED THAT (1) "TRY USING NAME BRAND GAS" (TRIED; NO CHANGE), (2) FOR PROBS 1 & 2 ABOVE, "IT MUST BE THE NEW TRANSMISSION." NOW RECEIVED FUEL PUMP RECALL NOTICE, BUT TOYOTA HAS "NO REMEDY AVAILABLE"?! THIS IS UNSAFE - PEASE...
CAR KEEPS STALLING WHILE GETTING ON THE GAS AND SOMETIMES BETWEEN GEAR'S
CAR BATTERY CONSISTENTLY DIES EVEN WHEN VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN OPERATION FOR ONE FULL DAY. I HAVE A DASH CAM THAT IS IN OPERATION ALL THE TIME AND DISCONNECTED IT THINKING IT WAS THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. TODAY IS THE 10TH TIME THE CAR BATTERY HAS DIED IN 3 MONTHS.THIS TIME I HAD THE KEY IN THE SLOT TURNED ONE NOTCH (CAR ENGINE NOT TURNED ON) AND WAS PLAYING MUSIC VIA BLUETOOTH, WHEN SCREEN FLICKERED AND EVERYTHING WENT OUT. DEALERSHIP SAYS THERE IS NO ISSUE WITH BATTERY AND REFUSES TO CHANGE IT.
THERE HAS BEEN AN OPEN RECALL ON MY CAR FOR MONTHS AND TOYOTA HAS NOT CAME UP WITH ANY TYPE OF REMEDY TO FIX THIS ISSUE. 'THE SUBJECT VEHICLES ARE EQUIPPED WITH A LOW-PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WHICH MAY STOP OPERATING. IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR, WARNING LIGHTS AND MESSAGES MAY BE DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, AND THE ENGINE MAY RUN ROUGH. THIS MAY RESULT IN A VEHICLE STALL, AND THE VEHICLE MAY BE UNABLE TO BE RESTARTED. IF A VEHICLE STALL OCCURS WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHER SPEEDS, THIS COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.' SOUNDS PRETTY DANGEROUS AND THIS IS THE CAR I TRAVEL WITH MY KIDS IN, I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN TOYOTA BRCAUSE THIS WAS ONCE LISTED AS THE SAFEST CAR ON THE ROAD.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. THERE SEEMS TO BE AN INCOMPLETE RECALL (FUEL PUMP) FOR WHICH TOYOTA HASN'T HAD A REMEDY PREPARED YET. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT ON, EVEN THOUGH I HAVEN'T HAD ANY ACCIDENT YET.
IF YOU SLOW TO A ROLL THEN TRY TO ACCELERATE, IT JERKS REAL BAD LIKE IT DOES NOT KNOW WHAT GEAR TO GO INTO. TAPPING FROM THE ENGINE BAY THAT COMES AND GOES. THE BRAKE ASSIST FEATURE CAUSE MY ROTORS TO GET WARPED RIGHT AFTER REPLACING THEM. LANE KEEPING ASSIST WILL YANK YOU OVER INTO A TURNING LANE IF YOU AREN'T SUPER CAREFUL.
THE CAR SHUDDERS AND APPEARS TO ALMOST STALL WHEN IN MOTION. THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY. IT HAPPENED FROM THE VERY FIRST YEAR IT WAS DRIVEN. ONCE IT ACTUALLY STALLED AT AN INTERSECTION JUST AS THE TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND I PULLED FORWARD. I HAD NOT BRAKED. THIS CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE SPUTTERED THEN REGAINED POWER. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AS A PRECAUTION AND WAITED AND THEN RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND DROVE TO HIS DESTINATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER CRYSTAL TOYOTA (220 US-22, GREEN BROOK, NJ 08812 (732) 968-1000). THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD LOOK AT THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAITED FOR OVER 3 HOURS. THE CONTACT SAW THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT BEING SERVICED AND RETRIEVED THE VEHICLE AND LEFT THE DEALER. THE CONTACT SAW ON THE INTERNET AND SUSPECTED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE FUEL PUMP HOWEVER, HE WAS UNABLE TO CHECK THE VIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
THERE HAS BEEN SEVERAL MISFIRES WHEN STARTING THE CAR, AND THE CAR SOMETIMES GOES INTO LIKE AN IDLE MODE. THE DASHBOARD STATES 27 MPG, BUT I'VE BEEN TRACKING MILEAGE ON A PAPER LOG, AND THE VEHICLE IS REALLY ONLY RECEIVING APPROXIMATELY 19 MPG. I LOOKED TO IT TO SEE WHAT IT COULD BE, AND AFTER LOOKING UP ACTIVE RECALLS, REALIZED THAT IT WAS SYMPTOMS OF THE FUEL PUMP MALFUNCTIONING. I TOOK IT TO SCOTT CLARK TOYOTA; A MANUFACTURER'S DEALER, AND THEY REFUSE TO REMEDY THE SITUATION.
I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY TOYOTA CAMRY 2018. THE CAR FEEL VERY HEAVY WHEN DRIVING, TGE STEERING WHEEL ARE STIFF AND DIFFICULT TO MOVE SOMETIMES. THE BRAKES ARE NOT STABLE LIKE THEY SHOULD EVEN AFTER I PAID FOR IT TO BE FIX. THE GAS GAUGE REFUSE TO OPEN WHEN IT'S TIME TO FUEL GAS THE CAR MAKES NOISES. IT'S VERY FRUSTRATING AND IT'S NOT WORTH WHAT I PAY FOR.
TRIED STARTING VEHICLE IN THE MORNING, TEMP WAS ABOUT 70 DEGREES, CAR HAS THE PUSH TO START BUTTON. BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH AN AFTERMARKET YELLOW TOP DEEP CYCLE BATTERY ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START, CAR ACTED AS IF THE BATTERY WAS VERY LOW IT TURNED OVER, DASH WENT BLACK FOR ABOUT 3 SECONDS AND CAR STARTED VERY FORCEFULLY. CAR HAD BEEN PARKED UNDER CARPORT FOR ABOUT 16 HOURS. THE DAY BEFORE CAR WAS IN THE SAME CONDITIONS AND STARTED RIGHT UP NO PROBLEMS.
SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ALL REPORTED TO THE DEALER DURING REGULAR SERVICE INTERVALS. 1. STARTED THE DAY I DROVE IT NEW OFF THE LOT - CLOCK RADIO WAS GAINING 1 MINUTE EVERY WEEK, DEALER FLASHED SYSTEM SEVERAL TIMES ON MULTIPLE SERVICE APPOINTMENTS BEST IT HAS GOTTEN DOWN TO IS GAINING 1 MINUTE A MONTH. 2. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS I WOULD PARK THE CAR FOR THE EVENING 1-2 HOURS LATER SOMEONE WOULD WALK PAST THE CAR NOTICE A HUMMING FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR, I'D GO CHECK SOUNDED LIKE THE FUEL PUMP RUNNING, INSERT KEY TURN ON IGNITION (NOT START CAR) TURN KEY OFF NOISE WAS GONE. REPORTED TO DEALER NOTHING FOUND COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. 3. STARTED AROUND 25K MILES - CAR IS VERY SLUGGISH, AND JERKY ON SLOW GRADUAL ACCELERATION FEELS LIKE A BAD PLUG OR FUEL DELIVERY PROBLEM, CAN BE DRIVING DOWN FLAT STRAIGHT INTERSTATE HIGHWAY CAR WILL HICCUP...

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. ON ANOTHER OCCASION WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA OF ROCKWALL LOCATED AT 1250 E INTERSTATE 30, ROCKWALL, TX 75087, (469) 331-8372, HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE BY MAIL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,900.
MY CAR WILL RANDOMLY STALL AFTER DRIVING SEVERAL HOURS ON THE FREEWAY AND SOMETIMES WILL NOT START UP. I AM CONCERNED THAT IT WILL STALL WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY LEADING TO A CRASH. MY CAR IS NOT INVOLVED UNDER TOYOTA'S FUEL PUMP RECALL BUT I HAVE VERIFIED THAT MY FUEL PRESSURE GOES TO NEAR 0 PSI WHEN THE CONDITION HAPPENS (FORMER TOYOTA TECHNICIAN) AND THE SYMPTOMS ARE EXACTLY THE SAME AS OUTLINED IN THE RECALL. I HAVE CONTACTED TWO TOYOTA TECHNICIANS FROM MY LOCAL DEALER AND SAID THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DUPLICATE IT DUE TO HAVING TO DRIVE SO LONG AND AS A RESULT THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PROVIDE A FIX FOR ME. I WOULD BE TEMPTED TO PURCHASE A NEW FUEL PUMP, HOWEVER IF TOYOTA DOESN'T KNOW ABOUT THIS ISSUE ON MY CAR, THE PART WILL NOT BE UPDATED AND WILL LIKELY TO HAVE...

P0171 P0505 P117B P0441 P0455 . FUEL/AIR MIXTURE IS LEAN . AND I HEAR THE FUEL PUMP MAKING THAT NOISE THAT INDICATES A BAD FUEL PUMP. IT'S WHEN I PUT THE KEY IN I HEAR IT LOUD ENOUGH AND IF I TURN THE KEY ON IT DOES IT AGAIN. WHEN I PUT IT ON P IT REVS AND RPM GOES UP AND THEN COMES DOWN, UP AGAIN DOWN AGAIN ... HESITATION AND MAJOR JERK WHEN ACCELERATING AT LOW MPH FROM A ROLLING STOP. TSB #T-SB-0152-19_REV SHOULD BE APPLIED TO PRACTICALLY EVERY CAMRY FROM 2018 & 2019. UNFORTUNATELY I CAN NOT HAVE THIS DONE TO MY CAR BECAUSE MY VIN IS NOT SUPPORTED IN THIS BULLETIN, I HAVE NO IDEA WHY IT WOULDN'T BE BUT IT DEFINITELY SHOULD BE BECAUSE THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH MY CAR EVERY SINGLE DAY. I BOUGHT A NEW TOYOTA CAMRY 2018 LE NEARLY 2 YEARS AGO. I BOUGHT A NEW CAR FOR WORK ALTHOUGH SINCE MY SON GAVE ME HIS CAR I STARTED USING HIS AND LEFT MINE TO USE FOR THE GYM. AFTER MAYBE ABOUT A MIN OR TWO IT QUIETED DOWN A LIL BUT IT IS STILL NOTICEABLE WHEN YOUR STANDING IN FRONT OF CAR. I CAN'T SEEM TO FIGURE OUT IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMP OR IF THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING AS TO MY PREVIOUS COMMENT ON ACCELERATION DELAY FROM A STOP.

VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN OCTOBER 2017,WITHIN THE FIRST WEEK THE BECAME NOTICEABLY LOUDER. INITIALLY WE THOUGHT THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE WARNED UP. HOWEVER THE VEHICLE REMAINS IN HIGH IDLE MODE FOR LONG PERIOD OF TIME AS THOUGH THE THROTTLE IS STICKING. WHEN VEHICLE IS NOT IN USE, IF RESTARTED WITHIN 5-10 MINUTES THE RESPONDS THE SAME AS BEFORE VERY HIGH IDLING AND SOUNDS AS THOUGH IT HAS NO OIL GETTING TO THE ENGINE(VALVETRAIN). CAR TAKES SEVERAL MOMENTS TO ACCELERATE WHILE THE PEDAL IS VERY STIFF AND THE RPM'S DOES NOT MATCH THE ACCELERATION TIME. FEELS LIKE THE BRAKES STICK WHEN YOU COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,288.
MY 2018 TOYOTA CAMRY SKIPS CONSTANTLY WHEN DRIVING. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN AT A CERTAIN SPEED, I MAY BE JUST TAKING OFF OR BEEN AT A CONSTANT SPEED FOR A WHILE AND IT SKIPS MULTIPLE TIMES. I LOOKED UP SOME COMPLAINTS FOR THIS CAR ONLINE AND IT SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS SAME AS WITH 2019 MODELS. I HOPE TOYOTA WILL FIX THIS BECAUSE IT'S MAKING US CONSUMERS VERY FRUSTRATED.

WHEN DRIVING MY VEHICLE I GET A STALLED RESPONSE WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS AND THEN IT JERKS FORWARD.
