THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO REVERSE, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL BANGING NOISE THAT EMITTED FROM THE VEHICLE AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THERE WOULD ALSO BE AN 'X' ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL NEXT TO THE 'D' FOR DRIVE ON THE SHIFT SELECTOR. THE CONTACT WAS AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE RANGE TRANSMISSION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, HOWEVER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

VEHICLE PURCHASED NEW IN 2006. UNDER 16,000 MILES ONE OWNER. HARD SHIFTED OUT OF PARK OR REVERSE. LOST POWER WHEN IN DRIVE WITH NORMAL RPM'S~ DIAGNOSED AS FAULTY TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR BY INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP. REPLACEMENT PART ALSO FAULTY. PLEASE NOTE MECHANIC USED TERM "FAULTY". I OWN A 2006 SUZUKI FORENZA WAGEN WITH AN AUTOMATIC TRANS-AXLE THAT I BOUGHT NEW FROM A DEALERSHIP (EXPO SUZUKI) SELLING SUZUKI MOTOR CARS, IN KINGWOOD, TEXAS. PROBLEMS STARTED HAPPENING TO MY CAR WHILE I WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE, WHEN I NOTICED THE GEAR SELECTION INDICATOR WINDOW ON THE DASHBOARD STARTED DISPLAYING ODD READINGS OTHER THAN PARK OR DRIVE OR A COMBINATION OF ITS RANGE MODES(R,D,N,1 AND 2) WITH A SLASH LINE GOING THROUGH IT, INDICATING THAT AN ERROR/MALFUNCTION IS OCCURRING (THIS STARTED AT 75,000 MILES OR LESS, ON THE VEHICLE'S ODOMETER.), I SHUT OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTED IT WITH NO ERROR/MALFUNCTIONS DISPLAYED; GOOD, BUT THE VEHICLE NOW DROVE SLUGGISH; IT WOULD NOT DRIVE BEYOND 20MPH OR LESS. IT WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SUZUKI DEALERSHIP BY TOW-TRUCK WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM, AND THEY CLAIMED THAT NO PROBLEMS WERE FOUND....
I REPLACED MY TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR IN OCTOBER 2013 AND 4 MONTHS LATER IT WON'T GO IN REVERSE. THE CAR DOES NOT WANT TO GO BACK. THE SENSOR GOES BAD REALLY QUICK AND IT KEEPS YOU PAYING MONEY TO GET IT FIX. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON AND HE AIRBAG LIGHT. I HAVE REPLACED IT TWICE IN 2012 AND 2013. I PURCHASED A USED 2006 SUZUKI FORENZA 2006IN OCT 2012. THE FIRST BREAK DOWN WAS A WEEK AFTER PURCHASE THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE WATER PUMP. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THAT WAS REPLACE IN DECEMBER 2012 I WAS DRIVING TO WORK I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND THERE WAS A SHAKE IN THE ENGINE IT BEGIN TO JERK AND DID NOT WANT TO ACCELERATE. I TOOK IT TO AAMCO WHERE THEY SAID IT HAD TO DO WITH THE TRANSMISSION SWITCH. THEY FIXED IT AFTER TWO WEEKS I WAS COMING OFF THE FREEWAY AGAIN AT THE STOP LIGHT MY CAR SHOOK AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE SAME CODE THAT HAD COME UP THE FIRST TIME. THEY FIXED IT AGAIN. THEN A MONTH LATER THE SAME THING HAPPEN I ENDED UP TAKING IT TO A DEALERSHIP...

THIS MALFUNCTION CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO SPONTANEOUSLY THROW ITSELF IN TO NEUTRAL OR REVERSE EITHER WHILE DRIVING OR WHEN VEHICLE IS AT A COMPLETE STOP. DRIVING DOWN RESIDENTIAL STREET VEHICLE STALLED AND BEGAN TO IDLE HIGH WHILE IN THE "D" POSITION. APPLIED BRAKES AND TRIED TO PUT IT IN TO "P" POSITION BUT DASH READ REVERSE. TURNED IGNITION OFF AND GEARS SHIFTED AS DESIGNED. 4 INCIDENTS FOLLOWED THIS ONE HAVE NOT HAD IT REPAIRED.I WAS PUTTING GAS IN WITH THE ENGINE OFF ONE I GOT BACK INTO THE VEHICLE CRANKED IT AND IMMEDIATELY THE SCRAMBLED SYMBOL APPEARED I CUT THE ENGINE BACK OFF AND TRIED IT AGAIN AND THE SCRAMBLED SYMBOL WAS STILL VISIBLE I SHIFTED DOWN THROUGH SEVERAL GEARS WITH CLUNKING NOISES AND HEAVY JERKING UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO FIND DRIVE 3, I WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE AT A SLOW PACE TO A PARKING SPACE UNTIL I HAD IT TOWED TO MY HOME. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WENT TO AUTO ZONE AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION SENSOR. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, WE DISCOVERED THIS PROBLEM RUNS RAMPANT ON 2006 SUZUKI FORENZA MODELS. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE MANAGER OVER PARTS AND SERVICE CHANGED THE SENSOR FOR US. HOWEVER, THE CONNECTOR IT PLUGS INTO WAS BROKEN AND HE WOULD LOOK FOR A USED ONE, AS BUYING A NEW ONE MEANS BUYING A WHOLE NEW ENGINE HARNESS ($800-$900). ANYTIME I LOOK UP MY MAKE AND MODEL THIS IS ALL ANYONE HAS TO SAY AND SUZUKI WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT EXCEPT CHARGE MORE MONEY TO KEEP TRYING TO FIX IT.THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL ALL OF THESE VEHICLES UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS RESOLVED. *TR

ALSO WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO REVERSE OR FROM NEUTRAL TO DRIVE IT SHIFTS HARD AND KIND OF CLUNKS INTO GEAR. THE NEXT DAY I TRIED AGAIN AND IT WAS SHIFTING JUST FINE, BUT STILL HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. LATER THAT DAY THE SAME PROBLEMS FROM THE PREVIOUS DAY RETURNED. WHEN THE SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED I...

HAD A DIAGNOSIS AND ONLY O2 SENSOR I WAS HAVING REPLACED. I RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE FROM SUZUKI . I WAS SCARED TO DRIVE THE CAR BUT HAD...
MY 2006 SUZUKI FORENZA SWITCHED INTO NEUTRAL AT 60 MPH ON A ROAD WITH NO SHOULDER. I HAD MY THREE SMALL CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT AND WAS TERRIFIED THAT I WOULD BE REAR ENDED INJURING AND POSSIBLY KILLING THEM AS I HAD NO POWER TO ACCELERATE. I WAS ALSO UNABLE TO GET FAR ENOUGH OFF THE ROAD BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO REVERSE. I HAD TO CALL MY HUSBAND HELP ME TO GET MY KIDS OUT OF THE VEHICLE ON THE SIDE OF A BUSY AND NARROW ROAD. THIS INCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY A FAILURE OF THE TRANS RANGE SENSOR WHICH HAS BECOME AND EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE SUZUKI FORENZA. THIS PART MUST BE RECALLED AS IT PRESENTS AN IMMEDIATE AND ONGOING RISK TO THE TO THE LIVES OF SUZUKI OWNERS AND PASSENGERS AS WELL AS OTHER DRIVERS. I BOUGHT A USED 2006 FORENZA SEDAN AND A FEW DAYS LATER, THE TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR WENT OUT. I JUST RESEARCHED AND THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. ALSO, THE AIRBAG LIGHT TURNED ON. WHEN DRIVING, THE FORENZA'S TRANSMISSION WILL NOT ENGAGE INTO DRIVE. RECENTLY, REVERSE HAS ALSO NOT WANTED TO FULLY ENGAGE. RESEARCH INDICATES THAT THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON OCCURRENCE WITH SUZUKI FORENZAS NEARING 70K MILES. THE MOST COMMON PART THAT IS MALFUNCTIONING IS THE TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR. *TR
I PURCHASED MY CAR BRAND NEW IN JUNE OF 2006. SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD THE TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR REPLACED FOUR TIMES. THIS IS THE PART ATTACHED TO THE TRANSMISSION WHICH CONTROLS THE SPEED AND GEAR CHANGING. MY CAR SUDDENLY FALLS OUT OF GEAR AND REFUSES TO ACCELAERATE AT AN APPROPRIATE SPEED. IT REFUSES TO TAKE OFF PROPERLY. THIS PART HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE SINCE JAN 2012 AND IS CURRENTLY BEING DIAGNOSED FOR THE SAME ISSUE. WHEN I START THE CAR IT CLUNKS INTO REVERSE AND CLUNKS INTO DRIVE. SEEMS THE THROTTLE SENSOR AND THE TRANSMISSION RANGE FINDER IS OUT. ACCELERATING UP A HILL, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SOLID (NOT FLASHING) AND THE "D" ON THE DASH DISPLAY WHERE "DRIVE" IS SIGNALED WAS FLASHING AN INCOMPREHENSIBLE ICON THAT WAS NOT FOUND IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL (LOOKED LIKE A SQUARE WITH TWO SLASHES THROUGH IT.)
