The high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) in the vehicle’s diesel fuel system failed. This component is subject to NHTSA Safety Recall 22V-767 (FCA Recall Z96). The HPFP has failed more than once, including after recall replacement, and the vehicle is currently in dealer custody, making the component available for inspection upon request. The HPFP failure caused the vehicle to stall and become inoperable, resulting in an unexpected loss of motive power. This created a safety risk by leaving the vehicle disabled and unable to be safely driven. The recall itself identifies HPFP failure as a condition that can lead to engine stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. The repeat failure after recall repair further increased safety risk. The failure was confirmed by an authorized Ram dealership (Gene’s CDJR of Fairbanks). The dealer documented HPFP failure and fuel system contamination, performed the recall repair, and later confirmed repeat fuel...

When fueling, gas pump kicks off due to pressure build up inside of tank/filler neck. Gas has spilled out on vehicle from filler neck when this has happened. Have to constantly hold gas nozzle in a very slow trickle to be able to fuel truck. Sensor is not serviceable due to being inside gas tank. Has been an ongoing issue since first starting with no remedy from dealerships.

Entered vehicle and notice strong smell of gasoline, driving my young kids to daycare and preschool they complained of the smell and we had to lower windows. Upon dropping them off, went to mechanic who confirmed it was a fuel system issue, fixed a valve. Following few days the truck has issues starting and is stalling and jerking at lights. I return to the mechanic who advises it is the same issue and relates to the fuel pump system failing and they have ordered the part that is on a 45 day backlog. Problem persists and make my trucks unsafe to drive and I am unable to drive it. I have spoken with RAM who advised my truck model is not included in the recall AND is freshly out of warranty. This is extremely frustrating I have to spend thousands to replace this and am unable to drive my truck...

Having problems when fueling up my 2020 Ram Limited. When trying to refuel truck at the gas pump it continuously shut off. Not sure if it's a filter problem or what

I took my 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiese to a Chrysler-Dodge-Ram dealership on 9/23/25 for the High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) safety recall. I was told a part had to be ordered to complete the recall and gave me a rental vehicle. After a few days I contacted the dealership about my repair. They said the wrong part was ordered and the new one was in route. After about a week, I called the dealership again and I was told "the truck won't start and they were working with Stellantis to figure out why." Several more days passed, I called again, they stated that after the new pump was installed and the truck was started it "blew a rod," but they had fixed it, test drove it, and it would be ready for pick up the next day. I picked up the truck on 10/16/25 and drove less than 50 miles...

While refueling my 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie with the large (33 gal) fuel tank, the fuel pump "vacuum-assisted automatic shutoff" or "nozzle shutoff mechanism" is triggered dozens of times prior to the tank actually reaching a full level. I have been experiencing this issue consistently for the past year and it has occurred, to the same degree, at each of the fill-ups conducted at a variety of gas stations during this time. I've had an independent service center diagnose the issue and they recommended I take it to a dealer for service and also report the issue because this has been a common issue they have seen. Other Ram 1500 owners on internet forums also report having had this issue. The safety issue is that gas may become trapped in a fuel system component where it shouldn't be collecting which exposes vehicle occupants to an increased risk of fire in...

While trying to fuel vehicle, it will not take fuel , fueling sprays gasoline out of the fueling tube ,

Every winter, since 2020 when I fill my gas tank with gas, the nozzle stops every time I squeeze the gas pump at the gas station. My tank will only take a couple gallons before the nozzle stops. I spend upwards of an hour at the gas station to just fill up my tank half way. Stellantis makes faulty gas tanks and has been for years. This faulty gas tanks forces customers to take their car into the shop and "forces" customers to purchase new gas tanks and fuel pumps. The gas tanks are faulty, they can cause harm due to faulty vent release. Multiple lawsuits have been filed in the past due to this issue, but Stellantis refused to recall and/or reimburse customers for this.

This vehicle will not take gas at the pump. It shuts off after less than 1/2 galllon, even near empty. It will also backsplash at the pump.
#11638764 | Fire
The DPF got so hot in a matter of a few miles (8 minutes driving) it blew a hole in it, and melted all the wiring under the truck, caused the engine to stop, automatically locking all the doors (thank God my child and husband had stopped and were out) before this happened.

I already sent one, and forgot the pictures, pictures included this time

While refueling the gas pump kept shutting off. The dealership replaced the filler neck and the fuel tank almost a year ago and now the issue came back and they are stating it is now the Evaporator Canister.

Refueling vehicle has become a hazard due to repeated overflow out of fueling stem of vehicle. When inserting gasoline fuel nozzle from gas station pump and squeezing gas fuel nozzle handle the gasoline does not enter tank but rather spurts out around the fuel nozzle spilling down the side of the vehicle and onto the ground and onto the shoes and clothing of the person fueling the vehicle. Refueling the vehicle puts the refueler and occupants and others in the area at risk of contamination by the flammable fuel and environmental contamination. Repeated attempts to "feather" the flow from the nozzle have failed to alleviate this problem. Repeated attempts to use different fuel pumps and other gas station pumps have failed as well. There is no indication of a problem on the dashboard indicator lamps nor messages. No inspection by dealer has occurred by dealer as of yet.

Power Distribution Center/Relay box failure. Contacts in box melted for ASD Relay. Incident occurred while driving on the highway at 65mph. Vehicle without warning had power loss in accelerator, and started downshifting gears. Dash immediately said “park and restart required.” Attempting to start engine, vehicle would crank/no start. After several attempts, vehicle restarted and resumed normal driving until “park and restart required” happened again. After vehicle shut down multiple times on highway, I was able to make it home and diagnose problem. I checked the fuses and relays on the PDC and found ASD relay intact with no burn or scorch marks on contacts. However, the socket is missing contacts within the pdc. I reproduced said problem by moving the ASD relay with vehicle running. There are no warning lamps, messages, or codes to show any kind of failure.

My truck has less than 40k miles on it. I bought it with 18k miles. For the 3rd time I am unable to put fuel in the tank without it shutting off the pump or spilling all over. I have looked on the forums and found this is a common issue with this truck. It is very frustrating because the first time the dealership would not look at it for over a month and when I had to take it to another service center they refused to reimburse me. Now this is the third time.

While driving at highway speed (~65-70 mph), the engine shut off unexpectedly (without any warning/bucking). There were no errors displayed on the dashboard. Center screen stated to place vehicle in park before starting. The multimedia console, AC, all other electronic systems in the cab were operating as normal. The truck did not start back up for some time (10-15 mins). The dealer states that there were no codes present in the vehicle's onboard diagnostic system (OBD) that indicate any issues or that the vehicle stalled. This has happened 3 times in less than a month. The truck has about 76,000 miles. It is a 2020 Ram 1500 with 5.7L V8 HEMI MDS VVT eTorque Engine.

Upon purchase brand new in 2020 with in a week a cylinder had to be replaced. Since then this truck has been in the shop for almost a year in total over the past 2.5 years. The recalled high pressure fuel pump went out at around 60k miles, this incident almost resulted in a major accident in the middle of the night as the power loss to the engine and brakes left me free rolling down the road into a stop light 4 way. When sent for repairs they had to replace the pump 6-7 times before they could give it back to me as well as the entire fuel system. The check engine light came on as I drive off and they had to replace the pump and other parts for the 8th time and kept it for another month. A couple months later the alternator went out and...

Pumping gas and it stops will not let me fill the tank after 2 or 4 the time taking the pump out it will spit gas at you has happened many times

The gas tank on the 2020 Ram 1500 Classic for some reason causes false fuel pump stoppages as if the tank was full. This causes fueling times to sometimes last 10 to 15 minutes and also causes a considerable amount of spillage due to the blowback of fuel. This creates a safety issue due to the possibility of fuel spraying back onto the driver. This is a known and recurring issue as I've seen it appear on several forums and pages numerous times from other Ram truck owners. Mopar should make this gas tank issue a recall as soon as possible.

Customer description: truck won’t take fuel, pump clicks off. (From Ram Dealer) Diagnostic- the vapor canister from the rollover from old fuel tank design, requesting and recommending new designed tank. This apparently is a known issue with the tank design.

UNKNOWN - Auto shut off on fuel dispenser happens almost immediately when filling tank as normal process. Have to slow to a trickle so it does not kick out & it takes 20x amount of time to fill tank than normal. Research is finding many owners of this vehicle with same issue. OEM needs to take action to correct as there is an obvious defect.

After I got the vehicle, during the first winter in January of 2021, I was filling up the vehicle at a gas station in Kansas. The fuel pump clicked off long before the tank was full and continued to click off every 3 seconds or so when attempting to continue. I stopped filling the tank at about half full after about 20 minutes in the freezing outside temperatures thinking it might have been something wrong with the pump. The gas gauge only read 1/2 full. I went to the next exit and tried again. Same situation. It took forever and finally after repeating this for about another 20 minutes, it finally did go to full but then leaked gasoline everywhere like it didn't stop because it was clogged or something. Seems to do it frequently when temps are below freezing. What ever repairs were supposedly made, did not work. I...

Fuel tank malfunctions. It will not relieve pressure to fill up. Have to continually pump gas for a long time for it to fill the tank up. This has happened on multiple replacement tanks. Yes, it is available for inspection. My safety and others is put at risk because it allows gas to overflow while filling up with the automatic pump. Also due to having trouble putting fuel in it causing me to run out of fuel in the middle of traffic. This is the 3rd gas tank I've had on my dodge ram's that has had the same problem. This has happened on multiple Dodge Ram 1500's that I have owned. The component has only been inspected by the dealership when sent in for repair/replacement on each occasion. It has consistently shown to have this problem when the vehicle gets to about 40,000-70,000 miles on the vehicle. There are...

The last 3 times I tried to fill my fuel tank the fuel would trickle in to the tank and the pump would shut off. The last time when the tank was finally full, after 10 plus minutes of fueling, the pump did not shut off and gas splashed back at me. It is not the pump because the fill ups were at different gas stations. There has been a Service Tech Bulletin but when I contact RAM they gave me the impression that I would be responsible for the cost of the repairs. This problem is well documented online, numerous complaints, and I feel it is a tremendous safety issue. I have an open case with FCA and we will see how that goes.

I was made aware of this recall in October via mail, and since then have tried to make contact with the dealership. I purchased from Carmax and bought the MaxCare warranty, but seeing as this is a recall I took the vehicle to RAM after receiving the recall notice. I told them how this is a serious recall and the fact that there is no remedy was unsafe for me to continue driving. They assured me that RAM was working on it. They offered me the option of purchasing my truck for less than I owed on it and to roll over the remaining balance into a new loan. I declined. On February 3, 2023 I was driving and my vehicle jolted and shut off. Upon starting it up again my check engine light came on. I drove half a mile to a Big O Tires shop to run the...

While filling up with gas the gas pump will cut off after pumping a small amount. I reposition the pump into the neck of the gas tank and try to pump more gas. The same problem occurs. You can only pump 25 to 50 cents of gas at a time. I called the dealer today after researching on line to see if there was a recall. They told me to bring it in, they would get to it in a few weeks. I researched to find there is not a recall on my truck for this problem but other 1500. My truck is having the same issue. I will update this case once its diagnosed by the dealer.

When accelerating from a stop the truck loses power and fails to respond. The engine is working but the transmission fails to engage and the truck just coasts until all-of-a-sudden it jerks back into motion. The vehicle will also lunge forward when coming to a stop as if the transmission catches and decides to accelerate momentarily. This is a serious safety issue when pulling out into traffic and has almost caused me to be involved in two accidents.

Unable to put fuel into tank. The nozzle repeatedly kicks off when attempting to fuel truck. Fuel is spit back out the filler hole no matter how the nozzle inserted. I have attempted three time at three different gas station, all with the same result. I have had the dealership look at it. I got the impression it is a somewhat common problem. There advice was to replace the fuel tank and charcoal canister, at a cost of $1600.00. A search of your web site has four of the five complaints , in the Fuel/Propulsion systems are the same as mine.

At a gas pump, the vehicle would not fill up. Constantly kicking the pump off. Took to the dealership, replaced the tank december 2021. Ram has several technical service bulletins on various years of the 1500 having fueling issues. This started around 27000 miles. March 7, 2022 started having the same issue. Contacted fca about issue. They said see dealer and they would pass the information along to their people. Again, truck will be going back for this issue.

THE FUEL FILLER LINE ISN'T WORKING PROPERLY. THE PUMP SHUTS OFF CONTINUOUSLY WHEN TRYING TO FILL THE TANK. IT ONLY FILLS A COUPLE OF SECONDS THEN SHUTS OFF. IT CAN TAKE 15 - 20 MINUTES TO FILL A TANK OF GAS.

TRUCK FAILS TO PROPERLY ACCELERATE CREATING DANGEROUS MOMENTS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PULL INTO TRAFFIC.PROBLEM SEEMS TO OCCUR MORE FREQUENT IN WARMER WEATHER BUT IS OCCURRING MORE FREQUENTLY AS MILEAGE ACCUMULATES. THIS ISSUE DID NOT OCCUR IN THE FIRST 3-4000 MILES. BUT NOW OCCURS QUITE FREQUENTLY. WHEN IT HAPPENS THE ACCELERATOR IS FULLY DEPRESSED WITH EXTREMELY SLOW ENGINE ACCELERATION. THE FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH ISSUE A SERVICE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE WARNING DISPLAYED. THE CEL SET AT THAT TIME CLEARED BY ITSELF. DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO DETERMINE CAUSE. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS LIKE IT IS ENGINE & BOOST MANAGEMENT RELATED.

USUALLY, THE GAS NOZZLE AUTOMATICALLY TURNS OFF THE GAS WHEN THE TANK IS FULL. WHILE WAITING FOR THIS TO HAPPEN, HAND ON NOZZLE HOLDING IT OPEN, THE GAS OVERFILLED, GUSHED OUT OF THE FILL TUBE, AND OUT FROM UNDER THE TRUCK. A BIG PUDDLE OF GAS ON THE GROUND. I THOUGHT THE NOZZLE SHUTOFF MALFUNCTIONED. I WENT TO FILL MY TRUCK AGAIN ON 5/5. I PUT THE NOZZLE INTO THE FILL TUBE AND SQUEEZED THE HANDLE. GAS GUSHED OUT OF THE FILL TUBE RIGHT AWAY, OUT FROM UNDER THE TRUCK AND CREATING ANOTHER LARGE PUDDLE OF GAS ON THE CONCRETE. I HAD A SIMILAR, NO CAP, FILLING TUBE ON MY 2013 F-150 AND NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM IN 7 YEARS. SO I CALLED MY DEALER TO REPORT THIS AND SEE IF OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THERE IS A SECOND VALVE IN THE FILL TUBE AND...
