THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V287000 (AIR BAGS) AND 07V527000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO GET THE REMEDY PERFORMED DUE TO THE NEAREST DEALER BEING 600 MILES AWAY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE IN NOVEMBER OF 2017 AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD SEND OUT A TECHNICIAN TO PERFORM THE REPAIRS; HOWEVER, THERE HAS BEEN NO RESPONSE. VEHICLE PROBLEMS SMOKE BLACK REALLY BAD, USES UP TO 5 QUARTS BETWEEN OIL CHANGES, IDLES ROUGH, RUNS ROUGH. IT HAS HAD A COUPLE RECALLS I CHECKED UP ON LIKE THE PRE CAT HEADER IT HAD BEEN REPLACED IN 03. I REPLACED COIL PACKS, SPARK PLUGS, MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR, CAM SENSOR, AND CRANK SENSOR. ON SEPT 16, 2014, MY 2002 NISSAN SENTRA WOULD NOT START. THINKING IT WAS A BATTERY PROBLEM I HAD IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC'S SHOP. A DAY OR SO LATER, THE MECHANICS COULD NOT FIND WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. I HAD THE ALARM WORKED ON RECENTLY AND THE ALARM INSTALLERS WERE NICE ENOUGH TO SWING BY THE SHOP AND TAKE A LOOK AT IT. RECENTLY THE ECM IN MY 2002 NISSAN SENTRA FAILED WHILE DRIVING CAUSING LOSE OF CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE ONLINE I FOUND THAT THERE IS AN ACTIVE RECALL FOR THE FOAM THAT COVERS THE ECM. THE PROBLEM BEING THAT THE FOAM TRAPS MOISTURE CAUSING THE ECM TO FRY. NISSAN WOULD NOT COVER THE ECM UNDER THE RECALL IN WHICH I HAD TO PAY $800 FOR THE REPAIR. I FILED A CLAIM WITH NISSAN FOR SOME KIND OF REIMBURSEMENT AND I WAS DENIED BECAUSE OF THE CAR'S MILEAGE AND BEING OUT OF WARRANTY. I OWN A 2002 SENTRA SPEC V AND THIS IS MY SECOND ONE IN 10 MONTHS THAT HAS FAILED TO PERFORM AS IT SHOULD. THE CURRENT VEHICLE HAS HAD 1 NEW ENGINE, 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD, 2 WINDOW REGULATORS, 2 NEW WINDOWS, THREE NEW DOOR SPEAKERS, TWO SHIFT KNOBS, 1 TIMING BELT TENSIONER, 1 THIRD BRAKE LIGHT, AND IS IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING IT'S THIRD ENGINE. CAR CONSUMES OIL AT A RAPID RATE OF 2 QUARTS PER 1200 MILES. TRIED AN INFORMAL RESOLUTION AND NISSAN REJECTED. DEALER AGREES THE CAR SHOULD BE BOUGHT BACK. SYMPTOMS THAT I HAVE, LEAD TO POSSIBLE ENGINE FIRE AND IS BEING ADDRESSED WITH A RECALL. I WAS SENT HOME IN A VEHICLE THAT WAS UNSAFE AND THEY DID NOT WANT TO FIX THIS LAST TIME AND WERE DENYING THE CAR HAD ANY PROBLEM. I FOUGHT A LONG HARD BATTLE JUST TO GET IT FIXED. *NLM
