2012 NISSAN ROGUE Power Train Problems

My vehicle is making this rattling noise so I took it to the dealership and they said I need a subframe. Be advised this vehicle has never been in a accident so why is the subframe needed and I only have 81,000 miles on it

The rear transmission area makes a loud grinding noise on turns under 10 miles an hour. Needs a rear electronic coupler. Happening on many years of this car model

We bought a 2012 Nissan Rogue with 88,000 miles for our daughter last year. Out of nowhere the car/transmission would not accelerate in rush hour, on the highway. The engine light came on but the message was vague as to what the issue was. I don't need to restate the obvious, as far as safety concerns. Thankfully she made it to the shoulder and we had to have the car towed. This could have had catastrophic consequences for her. I have read numerous posts about how this is an inherent problem with the Nissan transmissions without a recall. We are in the process of determining which repair facility to use but the cost, at a minimum, will be $4,200.00.

The CVT component on these cars causes it to lose power and acceleration which can cause an bad accident..one morning while going to work i got onto the expressway and car did not want to acceleration and almost caused me to get into a collision with an 18 wheeler.. The next day i took it to an mechanic shop whereas they told me nothing was wrong with my car and i should contact nissan and complain because the only problem they can guess is its my CVT and nissan made the car to do that so it last longer.. Then 2 days later I was driving on a commercial road with lots of traffic when all of a sudden my car would not acceleration even when I pushed the pedal to the floor.. Vehicle was driven for 1 hour and 6 minutes for 73 miles. The max speed reached for 65 of the miles was 75 mph and the CVT FLUID TEMPERATURE PROTECTION LOGIC caused the vehicle to decelerate and the driver was barely able to pull off the interstate to a safe location. There should be a recall, owners of this vehicle should not be responsible to pay for a design flaw of this vehicle. This is the 3rd incident that this happened the last 6 months.

My 17yr old son and 20 yr old daughter were traveling to visit grandparents. They were driving normal highway speed and the transmission just cut out and the RPMs reved up to the red line and they barely made it off the road before a collision. This vehicle only has 70k miles and contains one of the faulty transmissions that they are aware of. This model was not included in their recall and is dangerous. This should be considered deception of the consumer, since they knew they built a faulty product and all of these vehicles should be recalled. Nissan should reimburse all consumers for such a poor/faulty/dangerous product.

November 21,2022 while driving my husband to the hospital for major surgery the transmission malfunctioned in our car (it was 16 degrees outside). We had to very slowly drive it back home and take our other car to the hospital. Some days after this we got it to our mechanic where he confirmed it was the transmission that needed to be replaced. It has not yet been inspected by anyone either than our mechanic. It is inoperable at this time. There were no warning lamps or messages that appeared prior to the failure.

Going up hill at 130,000 it doesn't want to pull, you have to put hazards on pray your not hit in the ass end because it happens at random. It then acts fine after a few minutes

I spoke with Nissan telling her my 2012 Nissan Rogue which I bought new, is currently having CVT transmission issues at 115000 miles. She told me, there was nothing Nissan is willing to do for me after 60000 miles. I am highly concerned as not only is Nissan unwilling to stand behind their product but also unwilling to do the right thing. CVT transmission. Car seems to lose power when accelerating from a stop or entering traffic. Shudders, shakes seems to go to limp mode. I read up on Nissan CVT issues. Transmission problems

The contact owns a 2012 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently decelerated while the RPM gauge increased. The contact was able to restart the vehicle to correct the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the dealer could not duplicate the failure. The dealer recommended that the contact replace the continuously variable transmission (CVT). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

CVT failed while on the interstate (70mph) and vehicle stopped accelerating. Gas pedal was unresponsive and the car rapidly slowed down while I attempted to to pull over on the side of the road. Cars surrounding were forced to brake, maneuver around. My 3 year old was also in the car. The issue was confirmed by the dealer as an issue with the CVT. There were recalls to transmissions in rogues made prior (2008-2010) and for years made after (2015?). I had the valve replaced per recommendation 2 years ago, and now I am dealing with the same issue for a second time. I attempted to pull out of my driveway, but 20ft out the car stopped accelerating again.

At 60,000 miles the car had a cvt replacement. 70,000 miles later car needs second transmission replacement. Nissan is aware of their faulty cvt transmissions, but refuses to comply. AT APPROXIMATELY 53,500 MILES, WHILE ON A LONG TRIP, THE VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A 'WHEEZING' NOISE AND EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER. IT CONTINUES TO DEMONSTRATE THE SAME BEHAVIOR WHENEVER THE ENGINE WARMS UP. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP THAT I TOOK IT TO SAID THAT THE LIKELY TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WAS COMMON IN NISSAN ROGUES, MURANOS AND VERSAS. I HAD THE CAR LOOKED AT BY TWO OTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANICS WHO AGREED IT WAS A DETERIORATION IN THE WORKINGS OF THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT NISSAN IS WELL AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM IN MULTIPLE MODELS AND MODEL YEARS.

I CAN'T DRIVE OVER 35MILES PER HOUR.

WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR CAR WILL SUDDENLY NOT ACCELERATE AND WILL CONTINUALLY SLOW PAST UNSAFE DRIVING SPEEDS. I HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED IN AUGUST. CVT WAS DIAGNOSED AND WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF 5698 DOLLARS. NISSAN FAILED TO PLACE AN OIL COOLER ON THE 2012 NISSAN TRANSMISSIONS WHICH HAS LEAD TO THESE TRANSMISSIONS EXPERIENCING FAILURE DUE TO OVERHEATING. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES LATELY WITH MY TRANSMISSION AND NOW,IT'S SITTING IN A PARKING LOT WITH ME HAVING TO LEAVE IT THERE AS IT LOST ITS POWER TO EVEN MOVE!! I HAD SERVICE COMPLETED & HAVE ALWAYS KEPT THIS VEHICLE UP AND EVEN HAD THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CHECKED THIS TIME AND NOW THAT IT'S NOT DRIVABLE,I DID A LITTLE RESEARCH ON CAR COMPLAINTS.COM AND EDWARDS.COM AND SEE SO MANY COMPLAINTS,IT'S SICKENING. THIS VEHICLE IS A 2012!!

MY CARS TRANSMISSION IS MAKING A WEIRD SOUND WHEN I TURN IT IN AND WHILE ME DRIVING IT. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 60 MPH WHEN SUDDENLY THE ACCELERATION DROPPED DOWN TO 20-25 MPH IN TRAFFIC WITH OTHER CARS SPEEDING TOWARD ME BUT WHEN I TRY AND ACCELERATE, THE RPM GO UP, BUT NOTHING HAPPENS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, AS MY TRANSMISSION FAILED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC, WITH NO WARNING PUTTING MYSELF, MY FAMILY AND OTHERS AT THE HIGHWAY IN GRAVE DANGER. I WENT TO MECHANICS THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAVE A CVT TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AND THAT NISSAN IS FULLY AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL THIS PROBLEM IS PUTTING PEOPLE'S LIVES AT RISK.

I'M JUST SO UPSET WITH THIS VEHICLE. WHEN YOU DRIVE FOR ABOUT AN HOUR THE TRUCK WON'T GO PAST 70. IT STARTS TO SLOW DOWN AND YOU CAN'T GET ANY SPEED. I WAS GOING TO WV AND IT STARTED MESSING UP I COULDN'T EVEN PULL THE HILL. IT WOULD JUST GO SO SLOW, COULDN'T GET IN ANOTHER LANE. IT WAS SO SCARY THOUGHT I WAS GONNA GET HIT. THE CAR ALWAYS HAS AN WHINNING NOISE WHEN YOUR ON THE ROAD OVER 30 MINUTES. YOU HAVE TO CUT THE TRUCK OFF, LET IT SIT A WHILE TO GET THE SPEED TO COME BACK UP. THE NEXT DAY I WAS ON MY WAY TO THE BEACH AND IT WOULD NOT GO PAST 20MPH. MASH THE GAS TO THE FLOOR AND IT WOULD JUST MAKE NOISE. OTHER THAN THAT I LIKE THE TRUCK. EVERY TIME I TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY ARE...

CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION)CVT FAILED FOR THE SECOND TIME SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW. I WAS DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY WHEN MY ENGINE SUDDENLY LOST POWER. THE ENGINE RPMS SHOT UP BUT MY CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN. I TOOK THE CAR TO A NEARBY NISSAN DEALER TO BE INSPECTED. THE SERVICE PERSON THERE SAID THE CVT FLUID WAS OVERHEATING CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO BASICALLY START SLIPPING. HE COULDN'T TELL ME WHY THE CVT FLUID WAS OVERHEATING BUT HE SAID HE COULD INSTALL AN EXTERNAL TRANSMISSION COOLER (FOR $1300) THAT NISSAN MADE FOR THE VEHICLE THAT MAY ALLEVIATE THE PROBLEM OR REPLACE THE CVT. I HAD THEM INSTALL THE COOLER AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. OBVIOUSLY NISSAN KNOWS THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH THEIR CVTS AND THEY DESIGNED A SOLUTION THAT THEY ARE MAKING CUSTOMERS PAY FOR TO HAVE THEIR VEHICLES RETURNED TO A DRIVABLE CONDITION. THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER...

THE CVT TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 113,000 MILES WHILE WE WERE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHICH RESULTED IN US ALMOST GETTING INTO MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS. WE HAD GOTTEN THE ENGINE SERVICED EVERY 3,000 MILES FOR THE PAST FIVE YEARS SO THE FAILURE WAS NOT DUE TO NEGLECT.

LABOR DAY LAST YEAR, WE WERE DRIVING DOWN AN OLD RURAL ROAD, JUST GOT DONE PASSING A CAR AND THEN OUR ROGUE SOUNDED LIKE IT REVVING THE ENGINE, THEN NEXT THING WE KNOW IT DIED AT 65 MPH WITH ONLY 102,000 MILES ON IT. $1000 ENGINE LATER WE FIXED IT. NOW, LAST WEEK ON MY WAY TO WORK, TRYING TO GET UP TO 60 MPH ON HIGHWAY AND IT REVS UP TO 4 GRAND AND WILL NOT SHIFT. WE LIMP IT HOME. THOUGHT NEEDED TRANNY FLUID SO WE ADD SOME. THAT FRIDAY WE TAKE ON A 2 1/2 ROAD TRIP, WE HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO 40 MPH FOR CONSTRUCTION AND THEN ACCELERATE WHEN CONSTRUCTION WAS DONE. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE IT REVVED UP TO 4 GRAND AGAIN. WHEN WE TRIED TO GET UP A HILL, ON A FREEWAY MIND YOU, WE HAD THE GAS PEDAL PEGGED AND IT...

THIS HAPPENED BACKING ONTO A PUBLIC STREET. THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T MOVE IN A CONTINUOUS MOVEMENT FORWARD OR BACKWARD. THE VEHICLE MOVED AS THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING.
